Japanese Cheesecake

15 Nov

feelin’ Japanese

Konichiwa fellow bakers c:

Yesterday,I made some Japanese Cheesecake! If you’ve never had Japanese Cheesecake before, you are definitely in for a treat.

Unlike a typical American cheesecake, this cake is

light, fluffy and has a velvety soft texture.

Don’t get me wrong,I am in love with the oh-so-dense-rich-&-creamy kind as well,

but today,

lets do it like the Japanese shall we.

I’d like to call this the ‘diet coke‘ in the cheesecake world.

Raisin & Cranberry Scones

23 Aug

I had scones for breakfast today.Freshly baked scones topped with butter and strawberry jam.My belly is a happy girl 🙂

I’ve adapted this recipe from Craft Passion and I am very much impressed. It takes conventional ingredients  and magically turn it into warm buttery flaky scones that I can assure you will not disappoint.

I decided to bake myself heart shape scones, just because

we all need a little lovin’ every once in a while.

Semperit/OldSchool Butter Cookies

10 Aug

Class ended a little early today so I got home and decided to start the pre-Raya/Eid baking with ‘Semperit‘ .Semperit is basically  butter cookies taken to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL.It’s very light, crumbly and literally melts in your mouth. The cookies are just so pretty which is an added PLUS.

The recipe is adapted from a popular Malaysian website, myResepi. So why not spare 2 hours of your day and prepare these babies from scratch! It’s easier than you think 😉 .

My first attempt at Semperit was in Adelaide a couple of years back.Well,Raya down under was different but in a good way.I remember baking these until 2am in the morning cause we had a miniature oven back then. So to my Adelaide friends that I have crossed path with & especially to my peeps at 805,803,my favourite red cabbie,my Stars Align family and my crazy girl from botanic apt,

this one’s for you.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

8 Aug

I first heard of the red velvet cupcakes while scrolling through Martha Stewart’s website. It’s basically a lighter version of a chocolate cupcake but in the shade of dark red and topped with cream cheese frosting. If you must know, the color of the cake is achieved through a chemical reaction between the buttermilk, vinegar and cocoa powder and  a tinsy bit of red food colouring to intensify the colour.

The recipe that I used for the cupcakes is from my oh-so-awesome online baking guru,Bakerella.I have no complaints about this recipe. It’s very light and moist with a subtle chocolate taste which paired so well with my favourite cream cheese frosting recipe.
